About Jerome Morrow
My work explores the intersections of philosophy, history, and nature. With a background in philosophy from the University of Michigan, my artistic perspective is deeply informed by metaphysics and skepticism. I challenge and push the boundaries of traditionally held assumptions about art, questioning its nature, purpose, and limits.
Technique & Medium
I am medium-agnostic, exploring the fundamental characteristics and techniques of different artistic forms. In painting, I engage with historical pigment-making techniques alongside modern chemistry, creating my own paints and mediums to enhance color, texture, and form. My photography focuses on documentation and preservation, capturing the complexity and diversity of nature’s expression. Through cyanotype, I strip imagery down to its essential values and compositions, free from the distractions of pigment and multichromatism.
Themes & Philosophy
I challenge viewers to critically examine art, society, and themselves. No assumption is sacred; all are open to scrutiny and skepticism. Throughout my work, a dualistic sense of conflict emerges—doom and serenity, action and stasis, good and evil, progress and tradition, the natural and the constructed, the organic and the inorganic. Environmentalism, particularly native plants and biodiversity conservation, is a central focus of my artistic inquiry.
My work invites engagement with these tensions, prompting reflection on the ever-shifting balance between nature, humanity, and the structures we create.
About Isabel Holtan
Isabel Holtan is a biomedical engineer and multidisciplinary artist specializing in oil painting, portraiture, landscapes, and watercolor. With a deep appreciation for both the technical and the expressive, her work captures the personality, emotion, and essence of her subjects—whether human, animal, or nature itself.
Her art is driven by a fascination with the beauty and resilience of life. Through bold color, dynamic composition, and expressive brushwork, she seeks to uncover the connections that bind us—to each other, to the natural world, and to something greater than ourselves. Her portraits radiate individuality and presence, while her landscapes and animal studies evoke the quiet wonder and vitality of the living world.
At the heart of her work is an exploration of hope, beauty, and the profound spiritual connections between humanity, nature, and the creatures we share our world with.
